GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Direct, lead, and manage project/systems-type equipment sales opportunities, including opportunities for nonstandard equipment, with assistance from the product management group and the field sales force.  Develop and present all documentation required for these opportunities, including process flow analysis, equipment layout drawings, and proposals.  Assist other sales personnel in the development of production and operation cost data, product costing/pricing, sales tools, training materials, etc.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales

  • Make sales calls with TM's and Dealers relating to new applications review, equipment selection, and proposal presentation.
  • Develop training information, programs, and sales tools to transfer equipment and applications knowledge to JCI's staff and Dealer product specialists.
  • Quote standard products.
  • Gather technical data and estimate costs as needed for nonstandard quotations.
  • Quote development for non-standard products.
  • Assist in developing monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts.
  • Assist in preparing new product proposals that clearly define new equipment configuration, intended application, prototype tests programs, cost and sales targets, and marketing plans.  Includes competitive information gathering and analysis.
  • Attend and/or present at trade shows and other product demonstrations.

 

Applications

  • Handle incoming calls regarding applications inquiries for JCI products.
  • Advise JCI personnel, Dealers, and customers in proper equipment selection.
  • Gather the correct information required to make selections.
  • Coordinate any material testing required for proper equipment selection and wear cost analysis.
  • Write reports on material test results and equipment selection.

 

Product Development

  • Communicate with Engineering, Production, and Service to determine areas of improved equipment design and cost reduction based on customer needs and competitive features.
  • Monitor service and warranty costs for relation to product design and function.
  • Competition and market research studies.
  • Assist in new product development from concept to engineering to production to testing to marketing.

Duties may change as required by varying workload and market needs.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Understanding of sales and marketing principles relating to selling through Territory Managers and Dealers, price negotiations, and follow-up on sales leads.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Inventor (or comparable software) and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Required to visit construction, quarry and industrial sites with exposure to dust, noise and weather elements; must be physically able to climb on equipment, aggregate stockpiles, etc.
  • Be willing to travel up to 30% of the year.
